EPA's Assault on the Coal Industry
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The EPA has canceled a previously issued water permit for a coal mining project in West Virginia.
EPA’s decision is unprecedented. The Wall Street Journal reports this marks the first time the EPA has withdrawn a water permit for a mining project that had previously been issued. An Arch Coal Inc’s spokeswoman said:
“the company was ‘shocked and dismayed’ by the agency’s decision, which it said would block an additional $250 million investment that would create 250 jobs. The company said it would appeal to the courts.”
The consequences of the agency’s actions will likely drive more people to the unemployment line in West Virginia and jeopardize further investments in the state.
Obama continues to undermine jobs, economic growth and energy independence by using the EPA to assault the fossil fuel industry.
