Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
In 1838, the co-presidents of Georgetown University sold 272 slaves to pay off school debts. This year, the school announced that descendants of slaves will be given preferential treatment when determining admission into the university.
Georgetown president John DeGioia told news outlets that the university in Washington will implement the admissions preferences. He says Georgetown will need to identify and reach out to descendants of slaves and recruit them to the university. On Thursday morning, a university committee released a report that also called on its leaders to offer a formal apology for the university’s participation in the slave trade.

Georgetown University is setting a bad precedent by taking political correctness to another level. School admissions should be based on the qualifications and academic performance of individuals applying for admission. Special treatment encourages resentment from those deemed qualified and not able to gain admission based on merit.
Ironically, Georgetown is trying to correct mistakes of the past by breeding resentment for the future.
