The Senate went on vacation, but before senators left Washington, D.C., they made sure President Trump could not make any recess appointments to his administration.
Every senator voted to keep the Senate in what they call a pro-forma session to keep the Senate “open” and from going into recess.
Using the tactic of a pro-forma session to prevent presidential appointments is not unique, but unlike with other presidents, the Senate is way behind in approving Trump’s nominees.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has used a Senate rule that requires a 30-hour debate for each nomination.
Allowing Trump to make recess appointments would allow the president to catch up with the rate of nominations that other presidents have had in the past.
In addition, recent news stories by the left-wing media focused on Republicans’ dissatisfaction with Trump, including a possible primary challenge for the Republican nomination in 2020.
The media sought out and quoted the likely suspects of Trump’s Republican critics.
In this edition of “The Buzz,” the discussion focuses on the collusion of Republicans, Democrats, and the left-wing media to undermine Trump.
