Term Limits for Thee But Not For Me
In 2008, New York City’s elite Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a law allowing him to seek a third four year term. Now, Mayor Bloomberg says he plans to vote against a referendum to revert the law.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who orchestrated the overturn of the two-term limit in 2008 while pursuing a third term for himself, declared Monday he will support a ballot measure to restore the law banning elected officials from serving more than two consecutive four-year terms.
Bloomberg’s sudden change of heart could indicate he may have higher political aspirations.
