Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has always been Hillary Clinton’s #1 fan.
So it’s only reasonable to wonder how her admiration for Clinton is affecting her leadership at the DNC, specifically when it comes to the 2016 presidential election.
Amid charges she’s blatantly tipping the 2016 presidential primary scales in favor of Hillary Clinton, Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is coming under fresh fire from progressives who want her removed from her post immediately.
The progressive advocacy group RootsAction on Tuesday touted the fact that a 4-day-old petition calling for Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s ouster has received 23,000 signatures. Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s detractors argue she’s wounded the Democratic party’s credibility by essentially rigging the presidential primary process in favor of Mrs. Clinton.
“The head of one of the two big political parties in the United States is trying to manipulate the presidential election process by limiting direct debate and tilting the national party apparatus in favor of one candidate. This is unacceptable,” RootsAction.org cofounder Norman Solomon said in a statement.
Democratic candidates (Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley) and their supporters have complained about the small number of Democratic debates on the calendar, a move that gives Hillary Clinton an advantage as the most widely recognized candidate on the stage.
Wasserman Schultz also came under fire last October when she “barred” Democratic Vice Chairwoman Tulsi Gabbard from the first Democratic debate for opposing her debate plan.
Under the leadership of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC might as well be renamed “Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Headquarters.”
