Bernie Sanders Launches $16 Trillion Green New Deal Policy

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
2020 presidential candidate and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders launched a $16.3 trillion Green New Deal policy in an effort to tackle climate change and appeal to Democrat primary voters.
Climate change is a big concern for Democrats according to polls.
Sanders wants to achieve 100 percent renewable power for electricity and for transportation by 2030 and completely decarbonize the entire U.S. economy by 2050.
The Vermont senator will fund the program through taxes and cutting back on military spending and claims his program will pay for itself. Part of his effort involves directly attacking fossil fuel companies via taxes and lawsuits.
Fossil fuel executives knew decades ago that climate change was real yet funded denialism.
The #GreenNewDeal holds them fully accountable by:
-Ending ALL subsidies to the fossil fuel industry
-Making them pay for their pollution
-Suing and prosecuting them for damage they caused— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) August 22, 2019
Sanders called climate change a “national emergency” and claims the U.S. needs to address climate change soon to keep the planet in good shape.
He also attacked President Trump.
Donald Trump thinks climate change is a hoax. Donald Trump is bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry.
Their time is up.
We are going to end the greed of the fossil fuel industry and pass a #GreenNewDeal.

Sanders is lagging behind presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden in the polls and he is hoping to boost his chances by making a huge commitment to tackle climate change.
The problem for Sanders is his proposal is so extreme it would doom his chances to become president if he became the Democrat nominee.
