Rep Ocasio-Cortez Feels Electoral College is Racist

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Freshman New York Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez despises America’s voting system rules.

Ocasio-Cortez thinks the Electoral College should be abolished, calling the process a “scam” because of its “racial injustice breakdown.”

The Hill reports:

“Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as apposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally.”

This perspective the Electoral College is racist is nothing new coming from Ocasio-Cortez.

Back in October, Ocasio-Cortez complained about the Electoral College in a Tweet and compared the system to “slavery’s power on America.”

Ocasio-Cortez isn’t the only politician who wants to see the Electoral College go away.

Democrat 2020 presidential candidates also want to abolish the Electoral College including Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

In 2016, President Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton but won the Electoral College vote.

It’s not surprising that Democrats want to change the rules of the game to prevent another loss in 2020.

Using only the popular vote would give power to largely populated cities and urban areas to elect a president.

The Electoral College exists to ensure citizens have a voice in electing a president no matter the size of their state.

However, Democrats are more focused on highly populated liberal communities on the left and right coasts and don’t care about the voice of all Americans especially in rural communities.
