At Least 25 Shot in Chicago Over Last Weekend

It was another bloody and deadly gun violence weekend in Chicago.
Over the past weekend, at least 25 people were shot, fatally claiming the lives of seven.
The gun violence extended into the early hours of Monday morning, where two males in their twenties were shot and killed.
Just the previous week, “Breitbart News reported that 15 were shot, two fatally, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, in Democrat-controlled Chicago.”
Labor Day holiday weekend was another bloody weekend on the streets of Chicago.
According to Breitbart, “At least 41 people were shot, seven fatally, over Labor Day Weekend 2019 in Democrat-controlled Chicago.”
Newly elected Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot experienced back to back violent holiday weekends since taking office earlier this year.
Chicago Sun-Times reports, “She’s already weathered two other bloody holiday weekends in the first few months on the job.”
Mayor Lightfoot was highly criticized by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) over the Labor Day holiday in a series of Tweets about Chicago’s flawed gun laws.
Gun control doesn’t work. Look at Chicago. Disarming law-abiding citizens isn’t the answer. Stopping violent criminals—prosecuting & getting them off the street—BEFORE they commit more violent crimes is the most effective way to reduce murder rates. Let’s protect our citizens. https://t.co/znHO31gDH2

Mayor Lightfoot blamed Republicans for the increase in illegal firearms in Chicago and responded to Senator Cruz, saying, “Keep our name out of your mouth.”
60% of illegal firearms recovered in Chicago come from outside IL—mostly from states dominated by coward Republicans like you who refuse to enact commonsense gun legislation. Keep our name out of your mouth. https://t.co/yVM4JHL3xy pic.twitter.com/pr613A3dpf

Senator Cruz shot back telling Mayor Lightfoot her anger “is misplaced” and pointed out that big cities with high crime rates are run by Democrats.
2/x All five of those cities have had Democratic mayors for decades and aggressive gun control policies—none seems to be working. Your explanation (“blame Indiana!”) doesn’t hold water. There are 27 states with GOP governors. Chicago is not alone in having neighboring red states.

Despite Chicago’s harsh gun control laws, Democrat-run cities like Chicago are plagued with bloody violence.
