Commentary: Biden’s, Left’s Promises of Unity Are Empty and Meaningless

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Dr. Tom Borelli’s commentary originally published at Newsmax.com

Judging by the outrageous call for retaliation against supporters of President Trump, Joe Biden’s call for unity was an empty and meaningless gesture.

Soon after the election results, Joe Biden issued a statement of unity declaring, “It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again.”

Since Biden’s call, actions and statements by Democrats and anti-Trump activists following the election shows quite the opposite; unity is out and turning up the temperature on the political opposition is in.

The truth is Democrats are waging a full scale war against President Trump’s supporters by pushing a wide range of retaliatory measures targeting backers of the president.

The most outrageous strategy is being waged by Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., who is urging U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to not seat the 126 Republican House members that backed the Texas Supreme Court lawsuit on election fraud.

In a series of Tweets, Pascrell justified his action by citing the 14th Amendment and claimed the Republican House members are “traitors” as well as “engaging in rebellion” by attempting to change the election results and put into power “Donald Trump an unelected dictator.”

A day before Pascrell’s effort, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., slammed the GOP House members that signed an amicus brief supporting the Texas lawsuit claiming they are “trying to overturn the results of our election” and “attempting a coup in broad daylight,” respectively.

The Democrat intimidation effort is not restricted to elected officials but goes much broader to include those who worked or defended the president in court.

In a remarkable display of intimidation, law firms representing President Trump over the election results were targeted by activists who threatened to apply pressure to the law firms other clients.

According to Politico, three law firms withdrew from representing President Trump over threats linked to activists including The Lincoln Project — an organization backed by those who could be seen as being in the pro-Biden and anti-Trump camp.

The Lincoln Project engaged in Democratic-type activism by using Twitter to encourage people to challenge the law firms and to personally challenge the lawyers helping the president on their LinkedIn accounts.

The blacklisting type of activism waged by The Lincoln Project was even too much for Twitter when the organization broke the social media company’s rules on abusive behavior when it provided the email addresses and phone numbers of two attorneys.

As a result, Twitter temporarily locked The Lincoln Project’s account.

Detroit is also trying to retaliate against Attorney Sidney Powell for challenging the election results.

Law and Crime reports the city asked a federal judge to punish Powell and her team with fines and to block them from practicing law in Michigan’s Eastern District.

Last, but certainly not least, is the blacklisting of people who supported or worked in the Trump administration.

In a Tweet, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez urged people to archive “Trump sycophants” because she feared President Trump’s supporters would try to distance themselves from the president in the future. After her Tweet she pushed back against critics saying they feared “. . . the idea of being responsible for their behavior over the past four years.”

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was essentially asking for the creation of an enemies list that can be used to punish individuals in the future.

Going further, Hari Suvugan — former press secretary for the Democratic National Committee and former presidential campaign manager for Pete Buttigieg — promoted the Trump Accountability Project that sought to list the names of members of the Trump administration on the website.

Preventing future employment of members of the Trump administration is the goal of the Trump Accountability Project. Defending the effort, Suvugan said, he backs “… the idea of preserving the record and ensuring the officials who actively damaged American democracy aren’t able to profit from that experience.”

After significant pushback, the Trump Accountability Project’s website was inactivated on the basis it conflicted with Biden’s call for unity.

Democrats and fellow anti-Trump activists are engaged in a full scale war seeking to punish President Trump’s supporters personally and professionally.

Such intimidation tactics mimic communist states and banana republics which tells us a lot about today’s Democrats and their supporters.
