Obama Blasts Trump Over Illegal Alien Prosecution and Child Separation While Ignoring His Track Record

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Former President Obama criticized President Trump over the prosecution of illegal aliens entering the country and for separating families.

Obama took to Facebook to bash Trump.

The Daily Caller reports:

Obama’s post was written in the context of World Refugee Day: “To watch those families broken apart in real time puts to us a very simple question: are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms, or are we a nation that values families, and works to keep them together? Do we look away, or do we choose to see something of ourselves and our children?”

The Trump administration issued a statement in response to Obama’s comments:

The Trump administration issued its own World Refugee Day message, saying, “The United States provides more humanitarian assistance than any other single country worldwide, including to refugees.”

Clearly, Obama has selective memory in his handling of illegal migrants crossing the U.S. border with children.

Data from the Department of Homeland Security sheds light on the number of illegal aliens prosecuted during the Obama administration.

The Daily Caller reports:

The Obama administration prosecuted approximately half a million adults for illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border between Fiscal year 2010 and Fiscal year 2016, Department of Homeland Security data provided to the Daily Caller reveals.

The prosecutions include both illegal immigrant violators of Title 8 of the U.S. Code 1325 and 1326 used to penalize first time and multiple offenders respectively. The DHS data further shows that the Obama administration referred on average 1 out of 5 adults apprehended at the border for criminal prosecution.

The Obama administration also separated migrant children from their parents but these images didn’t dominate the news cycle (see photos here).

While the Left continues their selective outrage over President Trump’s zero-tolerance policy to prosecute migrant adults illegally entering the country and separating them from their children, the fact the Obama administration did the same thing is a significant double standard.
