On MSNBC’s Morning Joe program, journalist Ron Fournier recalled telling the Clinton campaign repeatedly that they were going to have a problem with trust on the campaign trail. According to Fournier, they dismissed those concerns as a non-issue. Boy, were they wrong.
“I keep going back to conversations I had with her senior advisers in March, and April, and May,” Fournier told the round table, “who kept saying that ‘trust doesn’t matter,’ because I kept writing the big problem with this is if you lose your credibility, it’s going to be harder for you to win. And if you do win, it’s going to be harder for you to lead. Yet they say ‘trust doesn’t matter, trust doesn’t matter, look at Bill Clinton!'”
