This State Assemblyman is Tougher Than Yours

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Caught in the middle of a pure “fight vs. flight” situation, Queens state Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Flushing) helped detain a purse snatcher right outside his office.

The NY Post reports:

Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Flushing) was parking his car near his office at about 1 p.m. when he spotted the vagrant darting down Main Street after allegedly swiping the woman’s purse from the stroller near 37th Avenue. “I saw a person running down Main Street and he was obviously running away from something,” Kim said. “It was very quick.”

Here’s a summary of what went down: beggar steals stroller mom’s purse, good Samaritan chases him down, Kim joins him in the chase while calling the police, Kim tackles the beggar while he’s on the phone with the police, cops arrive and take the thief into custody.

Kim said he never saw something like that happen in broad daylight in his district. “It really made me angry that this was happening in my district right next to my office and I wanted to make sure he was caught,” Kim said. Referring to the issue of homelessness and panhandling in the city, Kim said, “This is a clear sign of an ongoing problem. We have to think of long-term solutions when it comes to battling homelessness and mental issues.”

Bravo, Mr. Kim. It’s nice to see New York politicians doing something other than passing stupid laws every once in a while!
