WATCH: Michelle Obama Makes “Night Before Christmas” Politically Correct

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Unless, of course, you’re a liberal. Then, it seems, you cannot simply enjoy the holiday season. Instead, you have to try and fix things. Things that aren’t actually broken. And in the process, you just look silly. And by silly, we do mean ridiculous.

Case in point? First Lady Michelle Obama and former American Idol host Ryan Seacrest reading “Night Before Christmas” at the Children’s National Medical Center… and making it politically correct in the process.

Take a look:

In case you missed it, here’s the commentary added to the story:

“‘The stump of a pipe’ — I think St. Nick gave up smoking,” the First Lady told the audience. Co-reader Seacrest was quick to point out, “This was written way back in the day.”

“But way back in the day,” the first lady continued: “The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath.”

Not to be outdone, Seacrest added a little more political correctness just to clarify that Santa’s overweightness – or anyone elses – is really a good thing.

When he read the line about Santa’s “little round belly that shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly,” he made sure to add, “I mean this as a compliment. He was chubby and plump (laughter) — a right jolly old elf, and I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.”

Can it just be Christmas? Can we just enjoy the classics without adding PC culture to the holidays? Good grief, politically correct grinches… go home and make some Christmas cookies!
