Department of Energy Backs SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan Lab Leak Hypothesis
New Evidence Changed Earlier Assessment

The Department of Energy (DOE) now believes the origin of the SARS-CoV-2, which caused the COVID-19 pandemic, was a result of a laboratory leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
The new intelligence report by the DOE is a change from its prior position which was neutral on whether SARS-CoV-2 came from the research lab or its source was a natural occurrence from wild animals.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.
The shift by the Energy Department, which previously was undecided on how the virus emerged, is noted in an update to a 2021 document by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’s office.
In addition to the DOE, the FBI also backs the lab leak hypothesis.
Energy Department has shifted from undecided to assessing with “low confidence” that COVID-19 most likely originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Energy joins the FBI, which previously pointed the finger at the Wuhan lab with “moderate confidence.”https://t.co/cix9Vt7zxi

The Wall Street Journal story notes other U.S. intelligence agencies remain undecided.
However, the new assessment by the DOE matches the finding of a report by the Minority Senate staff issued last October.
The Senate report dismissed the idea of a Zoonotic spillover where infected animals infect humans, saying, “Instead, there is no evidence that any animal was infected with SARS-CoV-2 prior to the first human cases.”
Additionally, NBC News reported in May 2021 that three workers at the Wuhan lab became sick and went to a hospital before the pandemic outbreak. The news story was based on U.S. intelligence.
The DOE report adds more concern about Dr. Anthony Fauci and his role in funding the Wuhan lab and that’s a topic that is going to be investigated by Republicans in the House of Representatives.
More evidence continues to mount that COVID came from the Wuhan lab.
We’ve uncovered emails showing Dr. Fauci was warned that the virus looked man-made & came from a lab, but he may have acted to cover it up.
Why?
We need answers & accountability. https://t.co/uw0iOhrqcs

Fauci pushed the natural origin of the virus on TV and in Congressional hearings.
The Wuhan wet markets were reopened by April of 2020 after it was determined that the virus did not originate from one of them.
And yet for two years Fauci pushed the wet market theory and shot down anyone who suggested the virus leaked from a lab. pic.twitter.com/GYyiTkg54B

It’s clear the weight of the evidence strongly supports the lab leak hypothesis and this conclusion is extremely important because it calls attention to the risks of this type of research called gain-of-function.
Fauci is defensive about his role in funding the Wuhan lab because his job was to stop pandemics – not create them.
