Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
A man jumped the White House fence on Thursday, causing a lockdown situation and a lot of surprise chaos on Thanksgiving Day.
The man, identified by police as Joseph Caputo, was immediately apprehended and taken into custody pending criminal charges, the Secret Service said in a statement. The incident took place about 2:45 p.m. EST.
Authorities have not elaborated on Caputo’s age, hometown or motivation for his action, but the New York Post reported that Caputo repeatedly posted anti-government screeds on his Facebook page and said of the Thanksgiving holiday, “Today has as much to do with turkeys and pilgrims as Easter does with eggs and rabbits … don’t think of what your planet can do for you, think about what you can do for your planet.”
… “I just heard him take a big, deep breath and whisper to himself, ‘All right, let’s do this’ and he took off,” Pena said. “It was chaotic. Everyone around us was yelling and kids were crying. It was pretty unexpected.”
The man was caught pretty much immediately. What a turkey.
