Today is the day…. Hillary Clinton is testifying in front of the House Benghazi Committee as of 10:00 am ET. While she has testified on Benghazi before, this time is different because the State Department has finally handed over 1,300 pages of documents from Ambassador Stevens’ emails.
In advance of her testimony, the Clinton campaign released a summary that said she is appearing before the committee to honor the memory of the four Americans killed in Benghazi. The summary said Clinton will testify that Benghazi was a tragedy that must be learned from but that America must continue to lead in a dangerous world.
Further, the statement said this approach to diplomacy “involves an element of risk-taking that can never be eliminated outright.”
The statement does not mention evidence that under her leadership, the State Department ignored requests for additional security from then-Ambassador Chris Stevens, killed in the attack along with three other Americans. This, as well as concerns that she helped push a faulty narrative that the attack grew out of protests over an anti-Islam Internet video, are sure to surface Thursday.
