Chuck Schumer Blasts Republicans During Tax Bill Vote

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Passage of the Republican tax reform bill included some drama during the Senate vote.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) had a few choice words for Senate Republicans during his floor speech on the tax bill.

Schumer told his colleagues across the aisle they are “messing up America” and asked for their attention while he was speaking.

The Hill reports:

“Can we have order, Mr. President?” Schumer said to the presiding senator, Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).

“This is serious stuff. We believe you’re messing up America. You could pay attention for a couple of minutes,” Schumer added.

Schumer used his speech to blast the GOP tax bill, saying the bill would lead to a “hefty windfall for the wealthy and only [a] paltry temporary leap for some in the middle class” and labeling the bill as a “disgrace.”

Schumer isn’t the only one critical of the tax reform bill.

Following the bill’s passage, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) weighed in.

CNN reports:

“This is a disaster for the American people,” Sanders told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“I think the Republicans will rue the day. They may be celebrating today, but I have the feeling that next November they will not be celebrating quite as much.”

Ignoring critical comments from the political left, President Trump and Republican lawmakers celebrated the major victory on the South Lawn of the White House.
